ABOUT
Song14 - So Long
This is 14 for me, but it's not my last. I have at least one more.
This one is alt titled End of the Line, which is appropriate to the song,
in order to fit the "End" challenge - even though the song is about an ending, of sorts,
and had the word end repeated in it. (Just covering all my bases)
I did a piano song last year and really liked it, so I decided to I wanted to do a piano song
this year. It was a lot harder this time around.
The song came off almost too "Pop" to me, but once you get into a certain groove,
it takes on a life of it's own. I think the song needs a high part, like a guitar or
something in spots to accentuate certain spaces, but I spent quite a while on trying
to add in a part and just couldn't get it right. If you have ideas, feel free to shoot
them my way.
The song I wrote about a widow got me in a certain mind frame.
This song is in the same vein but with a different "point".
LYRICS
So Long
MP3
The clock says it's time to say goodbye
I could swear we only just arrived
so, tommorow afternoon
yeah, we'll see you really soon
so long so long
I never heard the screeching tires
or the wailing saved for fires
twisted ruin on the black
didn't feel the cold attack
hold on hold on
(chorus)
Line is measured
and cut just once
and it's never spun again
so clutch the cloth
we weave each day
and there will never be an end
The son's wife was draped in black
It seemed like they'd be coming back
Haven't seen you all for years
too bad it's over tears
so long so long
He called the very next day
He couldn't find the words to say
just called to share a laugh
'cause we only really have
so long so long
