Careless Lives Cost Talk

This song came from a quote from Mere Christianity by C.S.Lewis. He was talking about how the Christian faith professes to be about love and kindness to the outside world and yet so many Christians fail to live up to that image, in many cases, because they are only human. He talked about the propaganda posters and slogans during WWII, indicating the one that said: "Careless talk costs lives". Then he mentioned the inverse is true. We do more damage to the cause of Christ by not showing the love of Christ to our fellow man than can be counted. Very few people are swayed to Christ by grand rhetoric but many are turned away from Christ by talk such as "It's nice in theory and all, but if that Bob Johnson, who thinks he so much better than us, is any indication, then count me out." Christ even said "So then, you will know them by their fruits." (Matt 7:20 NASB)

This is a song that just popped out as I was playing around with DADGAD tuning. I tried something different by tuning the higher A to A#, thus give a tuning of DADGA#D with the A# and D as a drone. This tuning is a bit odd, but a lot of fun to play in.

Careless Live Cost Talk

You can do
All you want
Not all
is good for you

I'll show the way
Just do as I say
Just don't do
as I do

Loose Lips will sink the ship
Careless lives cost talk
Rotten fruit shows true the root
Careless lives cost talk

A quiet bout
Louder than a shout
Sweet words
won't clear the doubt

Empty talk
Won't make the walk
They'll know you
by your route

Loose Lips will sink the ship
Careless lives cost talk
Rotten fruit shows true the root
Careless lives cost talk

Deeds will form you in their eyes
Will they match your disguise?

Loose Lips will sink the ship
Careless lives cost talk
Rotten fruit shows true the root
Careless lives cost talk
