Drunken Explanation

This was another song I wrote for FAWM. It was inspired by a former co-worker who had drunk himself out of a job. A few people I knew at that job regularly spent their evenings in bars drinking, not to escape something, but because they were bored. They would recount their exploits at work, through their hangovers.

I initally thought this song might be too Oasis in nature, but the FAWMers pointed out it's closer resemblance to Everclear. I have to agree, but that doesn't bother me too much.

Drunk

Spilled on grass by the cold moonlight
Empty street full of broken fights
Men too drunk to demand their rights
Must find a way back home

The time we shared is all we knew
Our little friendship, how it grew
I had one and you had two
Because you hate to drink alone

Surrender
To the pleasure
Don’t know whether
It gonna pass
Come the morning
I’ll be storming
Stake my warning
It’ll be the last

Forget my sorrows, I never knew
week night with nothin to do
Where was I going to
It must be better there

Cast my life in a tragic light
Numb the dull and painful plight
One more round and it’ll then be right
to float away somewhere

One more round and then it’s two
I know me but who are you
Where was I going to
It must be better there
