The Uniquely Average Pirates
NOTES:
So, this was a lot harder to put out that I expected. Health Woes, Recording Woes, you name it. But here it is… finally off the starting block.
This is supposed to be a group of pirates swapping stories.
This is a sort of song that needs a bunch of guys singing… and more instruments… and a parrot… and someone who actually KNOWS how to play a concertina… one where the buttons don’t stick.
UPDATE
I finished the extended version… it’s basically about 90 seconds longer total… You can grab it at the Bottom of the page to enjoy some extra mediocre pirate goodness. (=
LYRICS
I sailed with a man
Named unlucky jack
Hoist the Roger
and he’s on the attack
10 men out and
only he comes back
with nothing but a hole
in his looting sack
When the dice comes round
he’ll always lose his stack
And that’s what he’s called
Unlucky jack
With a hey heave ho
to the waves we’ll go
Fighting and looting
and drinking and shooting
loudly disputing and
generally polluting
We’re the uniquely average pirates
I sailed with a man
Call Red Munrow
Where he was he’d
never really know
He set sail north
but it’s south you’d go
You’d sail for the Main
and end up in snow
If he fired in the air
best to look out below
more dizzy than a spout
was that lost Munrow
With a hey heave ho
to the waves we’ll go
Fighting and looting
and drinking and shooting
loudly disputing and
generally polluting
We’re the uniquely average pirates
I sailed with a man
called the ARRrrmadillo
he was so round
he looked like a pillow
Tough in the skin
but soft in the middle
He’d weep at the sound
of a lonely fiddle
then turn right around
and use your skull to whittle
He was one mean
ARRRrrrmadillo
With a hey heave ho
to the waves we’ll go
Fighting and looting
and drinking and shooting
loudly disputing and
generally polluting
We appreciate the rooting
We’re always recruiting
so join us in the hooting
but don’t you be saluting
Our sentence is commuting
we really like computing
We’re the uniquely average pirates
We’re the uniquely average pirates
