The Winter Snow

Liner Notes:

Every year I start FAWM with a celtic folk pop sort of thing… and this year is no different. Originally I had a story I was going to tell, but that got morphed into the next song.

If you are from Minnesota, you tend to talk about the weather a lot. The local joke is “If you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes – it’ll change” though, I think with patience and dedication we can get that down to 4.. 4.5 tops. (Yes I stole that).

This is a song of rebellion… against snow. Use it as fuel when you are shoveling.

I intended this to have more BG Vox, but my vocal chords didn’t agree and promptly quit on me.

Lyrics:

When outside the snow is deep
and the cold puts all to sleep
Pray the Lord my heat to keep
and send away the snow

When the sun is shining high
and the land is turning dry
Pray the Lord that I’ll get by
without a prayer for snow

(Chorus)
Sing out the winter snow
sing it loud sing it low
Sing out the winter snow
and tell Jack Frost to go?

When the world is drenched in rain
and the wet seeps in the brain
Pray to the Lord that I’ll refrain
from wishing for the snow

When the leaves are falling down
and the frost is on the ground
Pray the Lord to get me round
the oncoming snow

When the talk turns to the day
and of the weather on it’s way
Pray the Lord that I won’t say
“I’d rather have the snow”

When outside the snow is deep
and the cold puts all to sleep
Pray the Lord my heat to keep
and send away the snow
