Song14 - Job

Some recent events made me think of our materialistic natures. What would we truly do if our house was robbed or we were diagnosed with a severe disease. This brought to mind the story of Job from the Old Testament. He had absolutely everything taken away from him and still he clung to his faith in God.

Musically I was quite excited about this one and then realized the trap I had laid for myself. The finger picking part and the strumming parts had been seperate and I didn't really try to put them together until I was recording... not good. It made singing it hard. Originally I had wanted the chords strumming and fingerpicking to be together, but the rhythmic differences were just to great. Worse, when I tried to shuffle the rhythyms to make it fit better, it threw off the lyrics. *sigh* If I keep this song, I'll figure something out... That's FAWM for you. (=

LYRICS

Job

what if you're home was broken
all the things you loved were gone
things you cherished stolen
vanished with the setting sun

what if your wealth was stolen
penniless poor as you began
what if your health was taken
A shattered husk of a man

faith will keep you afloat
when you can't see the boat
grace will keep you whole
when you don't have control
And love will hold you
through it all

what if your loves were taken
their echoes haunting your years
what if all you had was stolen
leaving night and bitter tears
