Stay
This song is a sort of love song, but it is not about my wife. This is one of those songs that can, under the right analysis, spark a pretty involved conversation, so feel free to email me.
I came up with the opening guitar pattern, which repeats through the whole thing, while showing Burr a piece of recording hardware at his apartment. You never know what can happen when you're just "messing around on the guitar". The rest "just made sense" to my ears.
Stay
Put your hand in mine
Put your hand in mine
Stay here for a while
And we'll see the end of time
When you talk about the weather
And wear your secret smile
Please don't talk about forever
Just stay here a while
Put your hand in mine
Put your hand in mine
Stay here for a while
And we'll step outside of time
When you rise up in the morning
And start to make your day
Please don't think about tommorow
Just try to make your way
Put your arm in mine
Put your arm in mine
Stay here for a while
And we'll stare down Father Time
When you talk about forgiveness
And dream your sins away
Please don't talk about redemption
Unless you mean what you say
Put your hand in mine
Put your hand in mine
Stay here for a while
And we'll see the end of time
